The short answer

On turn-up prices, Car Park 1, Car Park 2 & 3, Car Park 4 and Car Park 5 tie at £469 for a week, at £67 for each 24 hours at the gate. Car Park 7 is cheaper on paper, £315 for a week by our sum, but its bus is only for pre-booked customers. Birmingham Airport says pre-booking can save up to 70%, but its own small print limits that figure to pre-booked stays of 14 days or more in Car Parks 1, 2 & 3, compared with the standard tariff at the car park, and subject to availability. It calls booking online the cheapest way to park. For short visits, Car Park 1 is opposite the terminal, a 1 minute walk away, at £67 for the first 24 hours. Only collecting someone? The Drop Off car park is free for up to 10 minutes, but it is designed for dropping off, you lose the free time if you come back within an hour, and the airport advises Car Park 5 for collecting.

Every turn-up price on this page is the airport's own published price, checked on its website on 17 Oct 2026. Weekly totals are our sums from those prices. Pre-booked and partner prices change often, so we link to them live rather than quote them. How we check.

The ten official car parks

These are the ten parking options for passengers' cars on Birmingham Airport's main parking page; each name links to the airport's page. The Freeport Car Park, a short-stay multi-storey that can't be pre-booked, has no airport transfers and is not recommended for passengers, the airport says, and coaches have their own park.

Booking ahead: Birmingham Airport says pre-booking can save up to 70%, but its own small print limits that figure to pre-booked stays of 14 days or more in Car Parks 1, 2 & 3, compared with the standard tariff at the car park, and subject to availability. It calls booking online the cheapest way to park. Book on the airport's own site, or compare the independent car parks below. The airport's parking page says flexible bookings can only be amended, cancelled or refunded up to 24 hours before arrival, and vehicle and contact details can be changed up to 2 hours before at no extra charge. Car Park 3 Priority Parking and Premium Pre-booked list amendments up to 48 hours before arrival. Turn-up prices count each 24 hours or part of 24 hours as a day, and pre-booked overstays are charged at the turn-up tariff.

Park or get dropped off? A week away

Car Park 2 & 3, turned up£469

A lift costs least in charges, but it means two return trips to the airport for whoever drives you. If you're driving yourself, don't just turn up at the barrier: Car Parks 1 to 5 all cost £469 a week that way. The Birmingham drop-off guide has the full rules for Premium Set Down, and park or drop off at Birmingham compares the two by trip length. We leave Car Park 7 out of the turn-up rows: its gate prices come to £315 for a week by our sum, £154 less than Car Parks 1 to 5, but the airport says its courtesy bus and meet & greet are only for pre-booked customers, so if you just turn up you have to make your own way to the terminal from the far side of the runway, about 10 to 15 minutes' drive away.

Independent car parks near Birmingham Airport

Holiday Extras and Airparks both sell independent park & ride and meet & greet at Birmingham, but not the airport's own car parks: Holiday Extras says it doesn't sell official on-airport parking, and Airparks says the official car parks aren't currently available to book. Airparks Express, for example, is listed with a 3 minute bus transfer, and Airparks Drop and Go and Airparks Self Park with a 14 minute one. YourParkingSpace is different: it is a marketplace where owners rent out driveways, garages and other parking spaces near the airport. Their prices change often, so compare them live.

Picking someone up

Where to waitCost
Car Park 5, 5 to 10 minute walk (the airport's advice for collecting)£12 for up to an hour, £24 for up to 2 hours
Car Park 1, 1 minute walk£12 for up to an hour
Car Park 2 & 3, 1 minute walk£13 for up to an hour
Drop Off car park, 5 to 10 minute walkFree for up to 10 minutes, then £7 for up to 15

The airport's advice is to collect from Car Park 5, a 5 to 10 minute walk from the terminal with a free bus every 15 minutes. The Drop Off car park's free 10 minutes are tight for a collection, and if you come back within an hour of leaving you don't get them. Premium Set Down's own page says it is only for dropping off, although the airport's parking FAQs list it for picking up too. Don't stop on the approach roads: they are Red Routes, where you can't stop even to drop someone off, with a £100 enforcement charge, reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days. Premium Set Down and the Drop Off car park have no barriers: cameras read your plate and you pay within 24 hours of leaving, online by Post Pay, at the card-only machines on site or with an AutoPay account set up beforehand, or a Parking Charge Notice follows (£100, reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days). Car Parks 1 to 5 use number-plate barriers and card-only pay machines.

Hotel and parking the night before

Holiday Extras and Airparks both sell hotel-and-parking packages at Birmingham, and the airport sells its own through its pre-book site. Holiday Extras describes three kinds of parking with its hotels: park and ride, where you drive to the park-and-ride car park after your stay and take its transfer bus; meet and greet, where you hand your keys to a driver at the airport; and parking at the hotel, where the car stays in the hotel car park and you take a taxi to the terminal. It also lists hotels on the airport site, a short walk from the terminal. Check which kind yours is before you book.

Hand over the keys

Meet & greet and valet

The airport's own Valet Parking is booked ahead: you hand your keys over at the Valet Parking cabin on Ambassador Way, next to Car Park 3 and a 1 minute walk from the terminal, staff park the car in an on-site secured car park, and you collect your keys from the same cabin when you return. Car Park 7, across the runway, is the airport's other meet & greet site, for pre-booked customers, with a courtesy bus to the terminal. Holiday Extras and Airparks sell independent meet and greet at Birmingham, including Maple Parking and Holiday Extras Meet and Greet, which both list as a 2 minute walk from the terminal; Airparks also lists meet and greet with electric-vehicle charging. Compare them with the airport's own Valet Parking before you book.

Blue Badge and accessible parking

Blue Badge holders, or their driver, get up to 30 minutes free in Premium Set Down, right outside the terminal: take the vehicle registration number and the badge to the NCP Customer Service Cabin there to validate it, and the badge holder must be present. Longer stays pay the standard tariff. The pages for Car Park 2 & 3, Car Park 4 and Car Park 7 also offer Blue Badge visitors 30 minutes free, validated at the same cabin, though the airport's Blue Badge page names only Premium Set Down. Every on-site car park has Blue Badge bays, among them 56 in Car Park 1, 30 in Car Park 5, 10 in Car Park 7 and 3 next to the Valet Parking cabin. If you'd rather not leave your badge in the car, the customer service desk in Premium Set Down issues a temporary windscreen permit for Car Parks 1 to 5; Car Park 7 has its own cabin. Car Park 7's wheelchair-friendly shuttle bus is for pre-booked customers only. See how Birmingham compares with other airports in the Blue Badge guide.
